Kenneth R. Peak
July 17, 1945 - April 19, 2013
Our founder Ken Peak lost his courageous battle with brain cancer Friday evening surrounded by his family. Ken never gave up, he just ran out of time.
This is very sad for all of us at Contango as we remember his strong leadership, concern for his employee’s and his overriding determination to operate our company with the goal of maximizing performance for the benefit of the shareholders.
As Contango continues its mission we will be guided by the principles and strategies Ken developed.
The industry will miss this visionary once called “the Warren Buffett of the oil and gas industry”. We will never forget his dedication to Contango where he risked his life savings to give it life. His memory will motivate all of us to honor his legacy and carry on his dream of serving our shareholders.
We will always remember his firm but gentle management style, the clear principles that guided his strategies and the common sense explanations of the philosophies he used to direct the company.
Ken leaves behind to cherish his memory in their hearts his loving wife Donna, who never left his side these past eight months, his daughter Mariclare, son Joe, sister Sandy and brother Mike. Ken fought a good fight. He held the course and kept the faith. May he now rest in peace.
